Emergency Repair

What is included, and how it goes.

When water is coming into the house, the first job is to stop it. Depending on call volume, we usually respond to roofing emergencies on the same day. After a large storm, when half of Tarrant County is calling a roofer at once, that can take longer, and we will give you a straight answer on timing when you call.

An emergency visit starts with securing the property. Temporary tarping or a temporary patch goes over the damaged area to keep rain out of the decking, insulation and ceilings. That buys time to plan the permanent repair properly instead of rushing it in bad weather.

The Difference

Worth knowing before you decide.

Once the roof is secure, we inspect the damage fully, including what the storm or the fallen limb did that is not visible at first. The permanent repair or replacement follows, and if the damage came from a storm, we document it with photos for your insurance claim.

While you wait, a few things help. Move furniture and electronics away from the leak and put a bucket under the drip. If a ceiling is bulging with water, a small hole at the lowest point lets it drain in one place instead of bringing the drywall down. Stay off the roof, especially when it is wet or dark. Take photos of the damage inside and out for your insurance company.

Emergencies we see most often in North Texas include hail that has punched through older shingles, wind that has peeled back a section of roofing, limbs through the decking after a thunderstorm, and flashing that lets go around a chimney in a heavy rain.

Before You Call

Emergency Repair, answered.

How fast can you get to an emergency?

We usually respond the same day, depending on call volume. After a major storm it can take longer, and we will tell you honestly when we can be there.

What should I do while I wait?

Move valuables away from the leak, catch the water, and take photos. Do not go up on the roof yourself.

Does insurance cover emergency tarping?

Many policies cover reasonable steps to prevent further damage after a covered storm. Keep the invoice and photos for your claim.

Can you fix it permanently the same day?

Sometimes. Often the right move is to secure the roof first and do the permanent repair once the weather clears and the materials are on site.
