Insurance Claims
What is included, and how it goes.
Filing a roof claim is simpler than most people expect. It is usually a five-minute phone call to your insurance carrier or a quick form on their website. What decides how the claim goes is everything after that: whether the damage is documented well enough for the adjuster to see it, and whether anything gets missed.
That work starts with a thorough inspection. We photograph and note every form of damage, the bruised and fractured shingles, dented soft metals, torn flashing and damaged gutters, so the claim reflects what the storm did to the whole roof system.
How It Works
Call or send the form
Tell us what you are seeing and where the property is.
Free inspection
An owner or project supervisor inspects the roof and shows you photos of its condition.
Recommendation
We go over the photos and our recommendations with you. If a storm caused the damage, we can walk you through the insurance claim.
The work
Most jobs are finished in a single day, weather permitting, and the site is cleaned before we leave.
The Difference
Worth knowing before you decide.
We can walk you through filing the claim in person and help gather the paperwork your carrier asks for. When the adjuster comes out, we can be there to point out the damage and answer questions about the roof. With your permission, we can also talk directly with your insurance company to clear up questions and keep the claim from stalling.
Once the claim is approved, our crew handles the repair or replacement to the scope the carrier agreed. In Texas you are responsible for paying your deductible, and a contractor who offers to cover or waive it is breaking state law, so be wary of anyone who suggests it.
A few things are worth knowing before you call your carrier. Most policies set a time limit for reporting storm damage. Many Texas policies pay roofs on an actual cash value basis, which deducts depreciation, while others pay replacement cost with the held-back depreciation released once the work is finished. Your declarations page will tell you which you have, and we are happy to go through it with you.
Not every roof has a claim. If the inspection finds wear rather than storm damage, we will say so and recommend what the roof does need.

Insurance Claims, answered.
How do I file a roof insurance claim?
Call your insurance carrier or use their website, give them the date of the storm and describe the damage. It usually takes about five minutes. We can walk you through it in person and provide photos of the damage.
Will you meet with my insurance adjuster?
Yes, we can be at the property when the adjuster inspects the roof to point out the damage we documented and answer questions.
Do I have to pay my deductible?
Yes. Texas law requires the homeowner to pay the deductible, and it is illegal for a contractor to waive or absorb it.
What if my claim is denied?
Ask the carrier for the reason in writing. Sometimes a second inspection or more documentation changes the outcome, and sometimes the damage is not covered. We will tell you honestly which we think it is.
Does filing a claim raise my premium?
Weather claims are generally treated differently from claims you caused, but carriers vary. Your agent can tell you how your policy handles it.
