Siding

What is included, and how it goes.

Siding and roofing tend to fail together. The hail that bruises a roof also cracks vinyl and dents the siding on the side of the house facing the storm, and wind that lifts shingles can tear panels loose. Handling both in one project keeps the exterior consistent and keeps a storm claim in one place.

We install vinyl, fiber cement and wood siding. Vinyl is the budget-friendly option and needs little upkeep, though it becomes brittle with age and cracks more easily in hail. Fiber cement costs more and holds up much better to impact and heat, and it takes paint well. Wood gives a traditional look and needs regular painting and maintenance in the Texas sun.

The Difference

Worth knowing before you decide.

An installation starts with evaluating the current siding and what you want from the new one. Old siding is removed, the wall is checked for damaged sheathing, and the house is wrapped with a weather-resistant barrier before new siding goes on. Trim, corners and the details around windows and doors are where water gets in, so they get the same care as the panels.

Repairs are possible when damage is limited to a few areas and a matching product is still available. On older vinyl, color matching is the challenge, since sun-faded panels rarely match new stock exactly.

When a storm damaged the siding, it is commonly included in the same insurance claim as the roof. We document the damage alongside the roof inspection.

Before You Call

Siding, answered.

What siding holds up best to hail?

Fiber cement generally resists hail far better than vinyl, which becomes brittle as it ages.

Can you replace just the damaged panels?

Often, if a matching product is available. Faded older vinyl can be hard to match exactly.

Will insurance pay for storm-damaged siding?

When the damage is from a covered storm, siding is commonly part of the same claim as the roof.

Can siding and a new roof be done together?

Yes, and it keeps the storm repairs in one project and one claim.
